Public and stakeholder input has been solicited over the past six months offering Houstonians an opportunity to provide an active voice in the planning process. Planned public outreach platforms have included public meetings along with an online survey. The input that has been collected will help inform the master plan team as they prepare to start their design work.
The Memorial Park Conservancy (MPC) continues its leadership in the Memorial Park Long-Range Master Planning process, joined by the Uptown Houston TIRZ and under the guidance of Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD). The Master Planning initiative will ensure a steady, methodical plan of action, developed and executed collaboratively by Memorial Park Conservancy, Uptown Houston TIRZ and Houston Parks and Recreation Department with input from stakeholder groups and the general public. Final review by the HPARD Director and Houston City Council, and approval of the future proposed Long-Range Master Plan will be required. The Plan will create a healthy balance between conservation and recreation and evolve from a robust public input process. Significant funding will come from the TIRZ and will be augmented by MPC fundraising efforts.
