OVERVIEW: The Memorial Park Master Plan will restore, preserve and enhance Memorial Park for the enjoyment of all Houstonians, today and tomorrow. This will be accomplished through the implementation of a visionary plan and active management in partnership with the community.
PROJECT TEAM: The Memorial Park Conservancy (MPC) and its planning partners, Houston Parks and Recreation Department and the Uptown Houston Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) #16, are working in concert to fund, develop and implement the Memorial Park Master Plan.
The award-winning landscape architecture firm, Nelson Byrd Woltz (NBW), has been selected to develop the new Master Plan. Renowned for their design excellence, their work is focused on the revitalization of local ecologies, a respect for history, sensitivity to scale, and the use of indigenous materials to create ecologically and culturally resonant public spaces. These are hallmarks that Memorial Park Conservancy prioritized for Memorial Park’s Long-Range Master Plan.

TIMING: The Master Plan will be submitted to the Mayor and City Council in Spring 2015 with the goal of starting initial projects in 2016. Full implementation of the plan may take as long as 20 years to complete.
