Every year on Thanksgiving evening, thousands of Houstonians and out-of-town guests gather along Post Oak Boulevard for the annual Uptown Houston Holiday Lighting. This FREE family event features festive music by local groups; holiday characters including larger than life Santa’s reindeer; a special appearance from Santa; lighting of more than a half million twinkling lighting on 80 trees and an incredible fireworks extravaganza.
But it does not end there. The holiday ambiance created by 80 brilliantly-lit holiday trees standing guard over Post Oak Boulevard, as well as numerous decorations and lighting throughout the area continues into the holiday season.
4 P.M.: Holiday Music and Concessions - Families can arrive early to enjoy the sounds of their favorite holiday tunes. Also savor the flavors of the holidays as funnel cakes, cotton candy, kettle corn and holiday beverages are just a few of the scrumptious treats that will be sold at area concession stands.
A percentage of concession sales will benefit Be An Angel and the Houston Area Urban League.
5 P.M.: Free to the public, Uptown Holiday Lighting will feature a Merry Holiday Stage Show with festive live performances from local Houston entertainment groups, including the Houston Concert Band, Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir, Houston Choral Showcase, Mixteco Ballet Folklorico and A.D. Players.
Santa Lights the Boulevard - With the help of the audience, Santa and his reindeer will light up more than a half-million twinkling lights on 80 Christmas trees along the boulevard and building rooftops to herald the arrival of the holiday season.
7 P.M.: Dazzling Fireworks Extravaganza - A dazzling holiday fireworks extravaganza will light up the Houston sky choreographer to favorite holiday music, setting the stage for a spectacular holiday season.
