Uptown Celebrates Monumental Groundbreaking

Recently, BBVA Compass, The Redstone Companies and Stream Realty Partners marked the start of construction on a new corporate office building. The ceremonial first shovel officially broke ground on the new addition to Uptown, a 22-story, 312,000 square-foot LEED® gold certified building. BBVA Compass will centralize the bank’s local executives, multiple business areas and staff units under a single roof, and occupy approximately six floors.

To ensure a beautiful area 365 days a year, Uptown works to strategically plant each spring and late summer for a steady succession of blooms and colors. 

New Signal on Post Oak Boulevard Keeps Traffic Flowing

Uptown Houston is currently implementing a state-of-the-art traffic signal control system on Post Oak Boulevard with the installation of new traffic signals. The first of six signals is located on Post Oak Boulevard at the BLVD Place and Post Oak Plaza shopping centers, and was completed in mid-October 2010.

Uptown Throws Away The Construction Cones and Celebrates Completion of San Felipe

On Thursday, July 15, the Uptown Houston District with Mayor Annise Parker and Councilmember Oliver Pennington, will cut through the “caution tape” and kick the construction cones to the curb to celebrate the completion of San Felipe with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Pedestrian Improvements Popping Up

Driving around Uptown Houston, you might have noticed the new lights, sidewalks and trees lining many of the streets. The Uptown Houston District is in the midst of a pedestrian improvement program which will add over 1,200 pedestrian lights, new wider sidewalks and lush green landscaping to every street in Uptown.

Uptown Goes Green

The reconstruction of San Felipe gave the Uptown Houston District a unique opportunity to not only improve and beautify one of Houston’s busiest streets, but also to help the environment. For years, a ditch has existed on San Felipe between Sage and Post Oak Lane that held sometimes dirty runoff water which would flow directly into the bayou.  Instead of leaving the ditch as it was, Uptown Houston converted the ditch into an environmentally beneficial “bioswale.”

Uptown Houston Dedicates the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park

The 2.7 acre park and 64-foot semi-circular Waterwall has been a Houston icon for nearly 25 years. Gerald D. Hines' vision for green spaces and urban parks played an integral role in the creation of the Waterwall Park.
