More Lively, More Memorable
Making Uptown Houston memorable is all about the experience - it's the architecture, the open and green spaces and the lively, active streetscapes. It is capturing in your mind that there is no other place in Houston quite like Uptown.

To enhance its identity, Uptown must take advantage of and leverage some of its best assets.

Expand Unique Streetscapes
Uptown Houston plans to further expand the vocabulary of streetscape elements that have become a unique trademark for Uptown including the steel arches, rings, lights and signage. Uptown is adding icon markers, 25-foot-high inverted pylons with sophisticated graphics, to add vitality to the street fronts as well as to serve as an information source with updates on activities in Uptown and traffic conditions. In addition, interchangeable banners will be added to the medians to enhance the sense of arrival and provide information on events and promotions in the area.

Cultivate Garden District
With its beautifully landscaped streets, Uptown is a garden district. To add to this legacy, additional trees are planned for shade and beauty, as well as more parks, open spaces and seasonal plantings.

Enliven Streets
Another key element in establishing Uptown's unique identity is to enliven the streets so people will come and mingle both during the day and in the evening. Uptown Houston hopes to achieve this by adding and beautifying sidewalks and letting the light shine on Uptown in new and interesting ways.

Identity Projects
To complement each of the major mobility improvement projects, Uptown Houston has developed a bold program of identity improvements. Each project consists of a combination of expanding streetscape elements, garden landscape and lighting, as well as creating a stronger sense of arrival and place. Planned identity projects include the new West Loop, Post Oak Boulevard, Westheimer, San Felipe, Lynn Street and McCue.
