Uptown Houston encourages private developers and property owners to reinforce the area's unique identity through the creation of development projects that extend and enrich the life and vitality of the public environment. That can include constructing underground utilities or rethinking building setbacks or sign ordinances or simply reinventing the approach to new projects.

Optimizing Open Space
Uptown Houston benefits from several open spaces, such as the Water Wall, that are not under public ownership, but add important culture, recreation and beauty to the area. It is Uptown's desire to maintain and enhance these resources as much as possible to make them an even larger and more meaningful part of the community.

To that end, we are implementing an aggressive campaign that includes a creative public information program to inform people of the exciting things happening in Uptown and provide the necessary tools and information relating to mobility improvements such as closures and alternate routes in and out of the area. It also includes special events like the city-wide family tradition Uptown Holiday Lighting.

We have become an information source through our staff, the media and our Web site so people know that Uptown Houston is one of the world's great urban centers that connects business with pleasure, energy with grace and style with substance.
