Overview
The Uptown Houston Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #16 (TIRZ) and the Uptown Development Authority work in tandem to encourage new development and grow Uptown Houston's tax base.

Uptown's TIRZ is implementing a plan to mitigate traffic congestion. This plan includes an overall budget of $235 million for local mobility improvements during its 30-year life. This project is underway with several construction projects already completed along Sage, Post Oak Boulevard and San Felipe.

The Uptown TIRZ also is projected to encourage more than $1.1 billion in new development and to generate $341 million in new tax revenue for the City of Houston.

The Uptown Development Authority is a non-profit local government entity created to act on behalf of the City of Houston and the Uptown TIRZ. The Authority is the financing vehicle and the primary entity responsible for retaining consultants and hiring contractors in connection with Uptown TIRZ projects.
