  • More than 30,000 people call Uptown Houston home. Uptown offers a variety of housing options including apartments, high rises, town homes and houses and accommodates a diverse group of people, from CFOs of major corporations and mid-level management to administrative staff and entry level personnel.
  • Since 2000, seven residential towers have been built in Uptown. Over 3,500 single and multi-family units have been built as well, representing over $400 million in real property valuation.
  • Uptown Houston’s home values reflect the strong demand for an Uptown address. Its neighborhoods boast median home sale prices of more than $180 per square foot in the last two years. New high-rise condominiums in the area boast values of more than $1 million.

Taxes

  • Annual revenue from retail sales taxes generated in Uptown Houston totals approximately $150 million. Its retail establishments contribute more than $18 million annually to METRO.
  • In 2006, Uptown Houston hotels generated $38 million in occupancy tax revenue, which funded a variety of organizations performing civic functions including the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau and the State of Texas Department of Commerce.
